Beach Volleyball rules

Come and discover the reference beach sport!

Appeared in the United States (California) in the 1920s, beach volleyball is the summer sport par excellence. Played on the sand, this outdoor game is appreciated by all because of its friendly side. Come and discover, without waiting, the rules of this game.

The “real” rules of beach volleyball :

To start a beach volleyball game, you must first of all mark out the court. Generally, the court measures 16 meters by 8 meters. The net is located in the middle of the playing area.

In a beach volleyball match, two teams take turns throwing the ball over the net. Each team is composed of two players. A match is played in 2 winning sets. The first two sets are played to 21 points, while the deciding set is played to only 15 points.

The ball must be hit to be considered valid. Attacking balls with the fingertips are considered fouls. In addition, the ball may be struck with any part of the body. Hands and forearms are commonly used to return the ball.

Finally, it is important to know that only one service attempt is allowed in a beach volleyball match.

Play with friends or family:

We have introduced you to the basic rules of the game but it is true that when playing with friends it is difficult to respect all these rules, especially the number of players. Of course, it is possible to play with a larger number of players (5 against 5 for example). The important thing is to spread out on the field so that everyone can play correctly. Indeed, it is necessary to have enough space so that teammates do not collide.

You will also need to choose a dry sand court to be able to dive without taking too many risks. Beach volleyball remains a physical sport so remember to stay well hydrated especially if you play in the sun. Have a good game!
