Hand Squeeze Race rules

The adult will be the leader of the game and must flip the coin.

Divide the children into 2 equal teams. Ask each team to form a line in front of the other team about one meter apart. Once the children are lined up, ask them to hold their teammates’ hands and close their eyes. At the end of the row is the captain; one for each team. At the other end of the row is the runner; one for each team. The captain faces the captain of the other team and so does the runner.

About ten meters from the runner, place a toy on the ground: a stuffed animal, a plastic toy or even a scarf…

The adult will stand in front of the 2 captains. All the children close their eyes. He will flip the coin and let it fall to the ground. When the coin has fallen, the adult tells the 2 captains. Only those can open their eyes. They will watch to see which side of the coin landed. If it’s tails, they don’t do anything. If it’s heads, then they squeeze the hand of the teammate next to them who still has their eyes closed. The latter squeezes the hand of the next teammate and so on until the end of the chain formed by the children and it reaches the runner.

Once the runner’s hand is squezzed, he should open his eyes and run towards the toy you placed on the floor. The first team to capture the toy scores a point. The runner becomes captain and all the children move one place.

If the captain accidentally pressed his teammate’s hand after the piece landed on the flip side, that team loses the round and turns its players in the opposite direction.

Count points for great teams. If you are playing with a small group, continue playing until a team reviews all of its players.
